Partnerships continued to be forged that assisted in reaching the young people of our nation. PTCI partnered with, the Aganar programme, and the Barbados Vocational Training Board (BVTB) – St. Luke’s division and used in-kind contributions from hotels, restaurants and other contributors, to achieve one of its goals of providing support and experiences that transformed the thinking of those youth who participated in the activities
The students from BVTB who participated in the Aganar programme were treated to a lunch experience that exposed them to the processes involved in setting up a full layout for a dinner reception and a lesson in table etiquette for fine dining. One student in sharing during the tour stated: “Mam, I’m so nervous, I’ve never eaten at a place like this before, I don’t know which one to use or what to do…” Another student commented after the lunch experience:
“mam, I dint know dat yah cud afford tah eat down hey, de prices is de same as Opa at Sky Mall…”
PTCI also sponsored two young kids to the Brewster’s Trust Football Summer Camp of 2017. This camp is an initiative that brings young kids together, outfit them with full football gear and coach them in football, assist with improving reading skills and teach the value of teamwork and fare play to list a few of the activities. PTCI was honoured when asked to sponsor two students.
