Summer Fiesta

Partners That Care International (PTCI), having successfully completed its first “Summer Fiesta” food drive in 2015, continued partnerships with organisations within Barbados in an effort to execute the annual initiative. The food drive was birthed out of an identified need to bridge the gap between the provisions of the Government subsidy of school meals and what is provided by parents when the subsidy is not available to the children.

The beneficiaries identified as at 2022, have grown to sixteen (16) secondary schools (two families each), one social welfare organisation (nine families) and one special needs school (two families).   The beneficiaries were chosen by Guidance Counsellors and the mentioned agencies and this approach ensures that those with the greatest needs were assisted.

A reoccurring remark from counsellors is the need to reach even more families than the allocated two per school on the distribution months. These needs from the counsellors often exceed our reach, however in recent times due to not having the full complement of donations and increase cost, has made adding additional schools and more hampers to the current list impossible.
